Winning does not happen in straight lines.
— Sir Clive Woodward

Sport is a universal thing. It unites, it divides. It brings triumph and tragedy. It creates heroes and demons, heaven and hell.

It defines moments, or periods in our lives. It gives us tribes to belong to. It brings hope, opportunity, and a narrative in our lives that is matched by little else. Whether it’s biathlon, or hockey, or rugby or football, it adds depth and meaning to our lives.

Which is why we decided to create Coppa Mondo. We want to celebrate all of the beauty, pain, glory and wonder of the world of sports with you.

We believe that sport deserves a home, free from click and ragebait. Free from “hot takes” and “controversial” opinions on things. We want to try to bring coverage back to what sport should be about, in a grown-up way.

Each day, you’ll find something interesting on here. One day, it could be a story about curling. The next, the history of rugby.

Think of it like a lucky dip or a jumble sale of brilliant, inspiring, weird and wonderful things.

We want to bring our love of sport to you and tell stories that won’t often enough be told elsewhere.

And, ultimately, if it brings you a little joy. Or if it inspires you to watch a new sport, then our job is done.

Welcome to Coppa Mondo, and enjoy.
